First Source Worldwide Expands Analytical Testing Capabilities with New HORIBA Particle Size Analyzer
First Source Worldwide is pleased to announce the addition of a HORIBA Partica LA-960V2 Laser Scattering Particle Size Distribution Analyzer at our ISO 9001:2015-certified Greenville, South Carolina facility, the new analyzer further strengthens our commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and delivering reliable technical solutions to our customers.
Our goal is not simply to supply products, but to serve as a technical partner and an extension of our customers’ laboratories. Investments such as the LA-960V2 enable us to provide deeper technical insight, enhanced testing capabilities, and practical solutions that help customers develop, optimize, and troubleshoot their products with confidence.

This advanced analytical instrument significantly expands our ability to characterize particle size distributions and evaluate particle dispersion behavior across a wide range of products and applications.
Particle size is a critical property that can directly influence product performance, including color strength, opacity, dispersion stability, flow characteristics, surface appearance, filtration efficiency, and processing behavior. With the addition of the LA-960V2, FSW can provide customers with enhanced technical support, product development assistance, troubleshooting capabilities, and quality control analysis.
The new system allows for highly accurate measurement of particles ranging from 10 nanometers to 5,000 microns and supports the analysis of pigments, colorants, coatings, inks, emulsions, minerals, plastics, paper coatings, and other specialty chemical materials.
To further expand its versatility, the LA-960V2 is equipped with a wet dispersion system for aqueous liquid samples, a dry powder dispersion system for free-flowing powders, and a fractional cell system for non-aqueous liquid systems. This combination enables FSW to analyze a broad range of sample types and provide more comprehensive particle characterization across diverse industries and applications.

Key benefits of this expanded capability include:
• Improved evaluation of pigment and colorant dispersions
• Enhanced product development and formulation optimization
• Greater insight into particle agglomeration and dispersion stability
• More robust quality control and batch-to-batch consistency verification
• Faster troubleshooting and root cause analysis for customer applications
• Expanded laboratory testing services for existing and new markets
This investment reflects First Source Worldwide’s continued commitment to technical excellence and long-term growth. As a family privately owned company, we continually reinvest in our people, facilities, technologies, and capabilities to better serve our customers and support innovation across the industries we serve.
By combining advanced instrumentation with the expertise of our technical team, FSW continues to strengthen its ability to deliver innovative solutions across the coatings, colorants, paper, textiles, plastics, agriculture, construction, and specialty chemical industries.
